Spa Health on a Walnut Farm

For my monthly column on Girlfriend Celebrations (love those gals!), I wrote about my roadtrip to Northern California to see my dear friend Marjorie at her Walnut Farm. Click here to read about gleaning walnuts, making fudge and drinking wine.

(What didn't make it in the article was that Marjorie and I, both being country girls, raced through the walnut trees on a 4-wheeler, ate dinner at a secret dive bar, and harassed her husband reciting the Debbie Downer SNL skit over and over:)

Treat Nail Lounge: Simple Sophistication

My friend Kiz recently got me a gift certificate to the new Treat Brow Bar & Nail Lounge for a Mimosa pedicure. This was perfect because I have been wanting to visit!

Treat Nail Lounge is owned by Jamie -- the same owner of Treat Luxury Essentials, which I love! Both businesses are located in one of my favorite nooks in Santa Barbara -- Arlington Plaza, just a few doors down from Carlitos. Of course I was in the neighborhood, so just before my pedicure appointment, I stopped by Crush Cakes for a "morning" Cool Vanilla Bean Cupcake and capuccino (hey, I was indulging, so why not really go for it!)

Let's start with the atmosphere of the new Treat Nail Lounge -- simple sophistication; I really love it. Side note: all of the doors of the businesses in the Arlington plaza are Dutch split doors which gives it so much character and open-air feeling; inviting people who pass by to come in.

Walk through the Dutch door of the nail lounge and you will notice classy, white decor with light tones in the pillows at every nook. And each space for a pedicure is just that -- a nook, not really a "station." The contemporary chandeliers also set a tone of classiness in the Lounge.

Kacey was the young lady who did my pedicure. The treatment started with my feet soaking in warm water in a copper tub with stones at the bottom to "ground" and massage my feet. Kacey then used Eminence Mimosa scrub on my feet and legs (sidenote: normally this feels really good, but I shaved my legs that morning, so the scrub did burn my newly exfoliated legs! My fault! Don't shave your legs the morning of a pedicure because chances are you will have a scrub on your legs.) Then came my favorite part -- the foot and leg massage with Mimosa Champagne Body Lotion, which contains antioxidants, protecting and healing the skin -- can't have too many of those!

For my color I chose Spa Ritual's "Too Hot to Handle" ... ummm, ya, that totally describes me (please note my sarcasm). Anyway, I love the color and according to Spa Ritual's description of this color, women who choose it are "Generous and Wise"... now that's more like it, although I do like the idea of being "Too hot to handle." What I do want to know is who has the job of making up these names!? I want that job!

The pedicure was lovely. Do take note though, if you are a client who needs extra cuticle work and callous work, ask the technician if they have the tools for that. My pedicure was done very "lightly", but I don't wear flip flops or high heels a lot, so my toesies are in good shape, but if you have high maintenance feet, just ask the technician what the protocol is to address your concerns.

I enjoyed my Mimosa pedicure -- quiet and serene environment, beautiful, non-toxic products and a beautiful pedicure. And the best part ... schedule a Mimosa pedi on Sunday and get a Mimosa to sip while you indulge! Visit Treat for more information!

Thank you Kiz for the thoughtful Treat! I loved it!
