Dreamy New Scent!

It's no secret -- I LOVE Sharon Bolton's scents! Why? Well, first she's a SB local and a woman who works very hard at doing what she loves -- creating beautiful, unique scents.

But if you have tried her scents, you know why they are so special -- there is nothing "perfumey" about them; they are pure, fresh, and pretty scents. It's hard to choose a favorite -- Truth, Love, Soul -- each one has a soft scent and hint of beautiful combinations of flowers...without being foofy or flowery!

Well, I do have a favorite now! Sharon is launching her new scent "Dream" November 15th and I have already sampled it -- I adore it! It's a blend of freesia, sandalwood, exotic musk and bergamot! It's lovely and dreamy.

Look for it in Treat, downtown Santa Barbara. For more information and store locations, visit http://www.sharonboltonscents.com/.

Nurturing Massage

Why do we get massages? That's an easy question -- to relax, to feel good and to ease tense muscles. I love getting massages, but I have to admit that I really have never "needed" one to help me heal...until this week. In a nutshell, the past several months have been emotionally overwhelming...as we all know, this takes such a toll on our mind, heart, spirit and body.

I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to Joy and Jacque of Montecito Bodyworks. I emailed Jacque on Monday to say, "My neck is hurting so bad, I can hardly move. Can you help me?" I was not expecting an appointment that day or even the next day, but Jacque (despite her own flu!) emailed me back immediately to try to arrange something that evening. When she couldn't reach me on email, she called me, but when she realized she had an old phone number, she called my friend to get my number. Her intuition and caring made her persistant in getting in touch with me and when she finally did, she insisted that she or Joy see me soon.

So, I saw Joy the following day (Jacque was still sick). Joy was compassionate, so kind and understanding of emotional trauma and how it affects the body. Her massage was so healing and therapeutic ... it was so much more than just a feel good massage, but truly helpful; she knew exactly what was wrong with me and exactly how to treat the issue.

The next day Jacque emailed to see if I was okay and how I was feeling. Joy and Jacque -- thank you for showing such a genuine concern for my aches and pains -- heart and body.

Massage by Student Intern

I remember what it was like to be an esthetician student -- eager to learn and experiment on willing participants! So, I accepted the invitation to receive a massage from a massage student intern in the new Wellness Program at SB Business College. One of Spa Defined's members, Jacque Jackson is an instructor there and she invited me to receive a massage and give feedback.

Just entering the new facility on Chapala exceeded my expectations. I'm used to a "school", not-so-new or sophisticated atmosphere, but the facility was awesome. I met Joy, the clinic supervisor and a massage therapist herself for more than 20 years -- she was so nice and professional. My student intern was Jackie; I had a good experience with Jackie; she was mindful of what she was learning in clinic and class. I was very impressed with her professionalism as well. Thank you Jackie!

If you want a little relaxation without paying the spa prices, consider the massage school, plus the feedback you lend is very helpful. To schedule an appointment and to find out more information on student massage prices, call 866-749-7222. The new facility is at 506 Chapala St. in Santa Barbara. I would love your feedback from your experience!
