What are my Esthesista's up to?

My esthesista's are out and about getting cool jobs in the spa industry. Here's a few photos of us when we were in school! Monica, the cute brunette getting her nails done is working for Dr. Stokes (plastic surgeon) and Saks as a make up artist. Maggie, the cutie with the brunette curls in her lab coat is working at Walter Claudio (Aveda Spa). Katy, the blondie,(showing her tonsils:) is working at Amara Spa by the Sea in Summerland and Jessica is back in school to finish her cosmetology training. I don't miss school, but I do miss hanging out with them every night!

Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine is looking for a guest lecturer for their Meridian Therapy Clinic. Spas of America

Wow...I am really enjoying this "work" of spa-ing in various places! I love living and spa-ing in Santa Barbara -- that's pretty ideal, but....being able to spa in places outside of SB like Kauai and Lake Austin is pretty great too! I will be doing a little more spa-ing outside of Santa Barbara because of Spa Defined's new relationship with Spas of America (there was a blurb about it in last week's Newspress!). Spas of America is a great site featuring spas...you guessed it, everywhere in the U.S. Surprisingly, there weren't too many listings for Santa Barbara on there, so that's where Spa Defined comes in. Boy, this is fun! Take a look at Spas of America's website -- www.spasofamerica.com and there's also a link just to your right ->
Also, in the next couple of days, we will have a Spas of America logo on the front page of Spa Defined, so you can use that too!

Boy...sure would like to quit my "day job" and do this full time!:)...maybe someday! In fact, I think there should be a spa health show on the Fine Living network, www.fineliving.com and I could be the host...something to work towards~!

Cielo -- ultimate pampering!

Yesterday I got to experience the ultimate pampering at Cielo -- a new skin care spa in Santa Barbara. I indulged in the signature treatment -- the Champagne Duet. It is a Champagne facial and body treatment (Babor products). The duet started with the body treatment and then the facial -- It was a 3 hour mini vacation. Today, my skin is super soft from the body treatment (exfoliation, massage, moisturization). The best part of the facial I think, was the papaya enzyme exfoliation and I LOVED Roxanne's application and facial massage technique...hmmm, not quite sure what her secret is (we went through the same esthetician training at SBCC!:), but maybe it was the pressure or something she learned through Babor, but it felt really good. Overall, I really liked the massage, massage and more massage...did I mention TONS of massage -- neck, feet, hands, scalp, shoulders. Very relaxing!

Lake Austin Spa

I'm going to Lake Austin Spa at the end of the month and I am so excited as this is always ranked among the top spas nationwide. Has anybody out there visited Lake Austin and do you recommend a certain treatment -- everything looks so great!

Dinah Thomason

This past weekend I had an extremely therapeutic massage by Dinah Thomason. I would definitely recommend her; her deep tissue work was great and the extra time she spent on problem areas really made a difference. She charges $70/hour.
